The William Sauntry Recreation Hall, aka “The Alhambra”

A stunning example of late 19th-century Moorish Revival architecture, the William Sauntry Recreation Hall is located in Stillwater, Minnesota. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings. Commissioned by lumber baron William Sauntry, the hall was designed in 1902 by the Chicago architectural firm Wilson and Marshall, along with sculptor Charles L. "Leland" Dunn. Inspired by his visit to the Alhambra Palace in Spain, Dunn incorporated intricate decorative motifs from the palace, making the hall a remarkable architectural masterpiece.

Today, "The Alhambra" is a private residence, open to the public only for private retreats and art openings in the Alhambra Studio.
